Corona del Mar, Spanish for “Crown of the Sea”, is beautiful and luxurious seaside village located in the heart of the affluent city of Newport Beach nestled at the foot of the San Joaquin Hills and fronting the Pacific Ocean. Home to over 13,000 residents, Corona del Mar offers some of the best beaches, including the Corona del Mar State Beach, tide pools, cliffside views, shops, art galleries and restaurants in all of Orange County.
The hilltop bluffs of Corona del Mar look out to the Newport Harbor and Pacific Ocean, where viewers are treated to some of California’s most romantic beach views. Framed by cliffs and rock jetties, The Corona del Mar State Beach stretches over a ½ mile and is the perfect destination point for those looking for a beach that has it all. Also known as “Big Corona Beach”, the mild waves and sandy shores are perfect for families and sunbathers. “Little Corona Beach” is a small secluded beach a few blocks south and is a favorite amongst tide pool enthusiasts and divers. The beach is flanked on both sides with rocky reefs that offer spectacular diving well known to local divers. The beach is very well protected from swells and surf, making it one of the easier beach diving sites and a great beach for families due to its calm waves and gentle current. Beyond the water’s edge, the sandy beach drops off to scattered rocks hidden among eel grass, making Little Corona an excellent snorkeling site.
CDM features some of the most prestigious residential areas in Newport Beach. Each street is named after a specific type of flower running in alphabetical order from Acacia to Poppy and a flower garden is displayed on every street from which it is named. Another attraction featuring flowers is the Sherman Library and Gardens, a 2.2 acre horticultural retreat featuring a museum of living plants, gorgeous gardens, patios, greenhouses, flower beds and tile fountains. The library is a research center dedicated to the study of the Pacific Southwest.
Located just 50 miles south of Los Angeles, 4 miles west of John Wayne Airport and 70 miles north of San Diego, Corona del Mar is a wonderful neighborhood highlighting the best of California.
